Deaconess Onyegecha Nwawueze Ofurum
Deaconess Onyegecha N. Ofurum is from Owerri in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State. She attended the renowned Christ Anglican Church Primary School, Owerri before proceeding to Owerri Girls’ Secondary School where she obtained Division One Grade in the West African School Certificate Examination in 1978. She attended Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State where she obtained Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in Chemistry/Physics in 1982; University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she bagged a Bachelor of Science in Education Chemistry and Master Degree (M.Ed.) in Science Education in 1986 and 1989 respectively. She proceeded to London South Bank University, United Kingdom where she obtained Master of Science (M.Sc) in Education for Sustainability in 2017.
Deaconess Ofurum started her working career in 1990 as a professional Teacher before joining the services of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) in 1995 as a Senior Test Administration Officer. Due to dint of hardwork, commitment to duty, integrity and professionalism she rose through the rank and promoted to the rank of Chief Examinations Officer and appointed Zonal Coordinator, South-East Zonal Office, Owerri, Imo State. She later earned promotion to the rank of Assistant Director where she served in various capacities in different Departments of the Board such as Examinations Administration Department, Examination Development Department, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department, and Registrar’s Office. She was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director, Special Duties where she served as Head, Production Unit. In all these special duties assignments, she distinguished herself as a Primus inter pares (a first among equals).
