The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, performed the inauguration on Tuesday, 31st August, 2021, at the auditorium of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja.
With the successful inauguration, NABTEB now has as chairman of its 10th Governing Board, Professor Bem Angwe. Other members include Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe (Registrar/Chief Executive, NABTEB); Professor James Okoro; Alhaji Abbas Hassan; Mrs. Elizabeth Adedigba (Director, Technology and Science Education, Federal Ministry of Education, representing the Minister of Education), and Mrs. Helen Dabup, representing interests of women.
In a statement made available to the media on behalf of other members, Professor Angwe expressed profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Education for giving them the opportunity to serve the nation.
“Our mission as members of Governing Board of NABTEB is crucial in view of the central role of NABTEB in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). If Nigeria is to develop technologically, like other advanced nations, the need to embrace TVET and support the work being done by NABTEB, especially in assessing and certifying skills for development cannot be over-emphasised”, he said.
Angwe solicited the cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Education, State Ministries of Education, the private sector and other key stakeholders to provide the necessary enabling environment to ensure quality delivery of products.
