Professor Ifeoma Mercy Isiugo-Abanihe is the Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), Benin City. Prior to her appointment by the Federal Government on August 01, 2016, she was appointed Director, Institute of Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, where she had served as an academic staff for over twenty-three years. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe is a Professor of Language Education and Educational Evaluation. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in English Language/Communication and Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA, and Ph.D in Educational Evaluation from the International Centre for Educational Evaluation, Institute of Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.   Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe has several academic and professional awards, including the British Council Cheevening Scholarship; Research Fellowship on Gender and Women’s Studies, sponsored by CIDA, Canada, and research award as Principal Investigator for an in-school and out-of-school sexuality/reproductive health study among adolescents in oil-producing communities, sponsored by the MacArthur Foundation. Arising from her research activities, Prof. Isiugo-Abanihe has been a visiting scholar at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax and Dalhousie University, Canada. In addition to her academic and professional teachers’ certificates, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe possesses other qualifications, including certificates in Youth leadership, sexuality and reproductive health from CEDPA, Washington, USA; Gender and Women Studies from the Summer Institute for Gender and Development, Canada; Women, Literacy and Development from the University of Manchester, Certificate on Monitoring and Evaluation from Philber Associates,  USA, etc. She is actively involved in research networks and study teams such as the Ibadan Social and Evaluation Research Team.   As an educational Consultant, Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe has served as National/Lead Research Consultant to several government and non-governmental organizations, including the British Council, UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNICEF, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, National Examinations Council (NECO), UBE, etc. In the area of public examination, she, as Deputy Director, coordinated the writing of the report on NECO’s study on National Assessment for Educational Performance; and is involved as a Lead Resource Person in UBEC’s National Assessment for Learning Achievements in Basic Education (NALABE).   As a professional teacher and post-graduate lecturer, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe has taught several courses in Educational Evaluation, including Observational Techniques, Principles of Test Construction, Programme Evaluation, Curriculum Evaluation, Public Examining and Qualitative Research; in Communication and Language Arts, she has taught courses with the following titles: Readability  and Style, Psycholinguistics and Reading, and Technical Writing, Skills Acquisition in Arts and Languages, Language Arts Methods, etc. Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe has supervised more than thirty Master and PhD projects and thesis. She is a prolific writer with fifty published books, chapters and articles in learned journals, and belongs to professional associations relevant to her discipline.   The current Registrar of NABTEB is versatile as she has many years of experience in both academics and administration. At the University of Ibadan, she served two terms as Sub-Dean (Post graduate) for the Institute of Education, Coordinator, Women’s Research and Documentation Centre (WORDOC); a member of the University Senate and member of several committees, including the Committees on Lecture method in the university, Committee on Evaluation of the University of Ibadan Commercial Enterprises, among others.   With her international exposure, and as an experienced administrator, researcher, teacher, programme evaluator, writer, test developer with knowledge of current techniques in public examining, and keen interest in youth and women’s empowerment, Professor Isiugo-Abanihe, has all the requisite skills to lift the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) to greater heights.

Deacon Obinna hails from Nguru, Aboh Mbaise in Imo State. He started his academic voyage at Community Primary School Obibi Nguru in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State and proceeded to acquire a secondary school education at Community secondary school Amuzi Ahiara.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University of Calabar, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Port Harcourt, a Master’s degree in Education (Management and Planning) from University of Science and Technology Portharcourt. A Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Calabar and a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration from the University of Port Harcourt.

He is a member of some Professional Bodies including Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN). Member, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON). Member, Association of Educational Planning and Administration of Nigeria (AEPAN). Member, Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). Member, Micheal Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS). Member, Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA). Member, International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA). Member, Nigeria Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).

 

 

Alh. Jimoh Adewola Kasali

Alhaji. Jimoh A. KASALI (NCE; B.Ed; M.Ed; PGDCS; Mman; mSTAN; TRCN) is the Director of Examinations Development, National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) Benin City

He was born on 3rd February 1961 at Kisi in Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. He accomplished his Education at Irepo Grammar School Igboho (1977) where he received the award as the best behaved student. He was given a letter of commendation for his outstanding academic performance at the defunct Oyo State College of Education Ila-Orangun, Osun State (1981/1982) and University of Benin (1987).

Alh.Kasali graduated in 1987 with Bachelor of Education (Science) in Mathematics with Second Class Upper Division; M.Ed (Measurement and Evaluation) 1993 and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science 2001 from University of Benin. His professional career started in 1987 with the Federal Ministry of Education where he was seconded to the defunct Anambra State Government as a Science/Mathematics Teacher from 1987 to 1990. He taught in various Federal Government Unity Schools across the country till 1993 when he joined the services of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) as a Senior Examination Officer. He rose through the ranks and due to his loyalty, effectiveness, hard work, integrity, professional efficiency and commitment to duty, he was appointed as the Acting Head of Research and Quality Assurance Department between 2007 and 2011 and Acting Head of Department Examinations Development between 2014 and 2016.

In January, 2017, he was appointed as a substantial Director, Examinations Development Department.

He attends series of Seminars and Workshops within and outside the country in the Design and Development of Large Scale Assessment, Research Instrument Design and Administration, Development of Examination Syllabi and Leadership/Management Training programs among others.

Alh. Jimoh A. Kasali has been representing the Board in the Joint Consultative Council on Education (JCCE) and National Council on Education (NCE) meetings since year 2002.

Alh. J.A. Kasali is a member of Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN), and Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). He is effectively involved in his community developmental activities.

His hobbies are reading, writing, researching, playing scrabble and Table Tennis.

He is happily married with children.

Mr Mark Eze Ugwoke

Mr Mark Eze Ugwoke (born on 20th November, 1962) is the Director, Research and Quality Assurance Department, National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, National Headquarters, Ikpoba Hill Benin City, Edo State. He hails from Umuida, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria.

Mr Ugwoke who obtained Master of Science (M.Sc) Degree in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation from Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 2016 is a researcher. He was, also, awarded Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) by the Senate of University of Benin (UNIBEN) in 1995 where he specialized in Financial Management. He secured admission into University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1984 and obtained Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Physics/Education in 1988 with Second Class Honours, Upper Division. Again, he attended the prestigious St. Teresa’s College, Nsukka from 1978 to 1983 where he obtained West African School Certificate.

Ugwoke was elevated to the position of Director of Research and Quality Assurance Department, National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on 1st January, 2017. Prior to his elevation to this position, he was the Deputy Director and South East Zonal Coordinator of the Board, Enugu from 2009 to 2017. He was deployed from the Text (now Examinations) Development Department of the Board to Awka, Anambra State to open a Zonal Office for Enugu and Anambra States in 2003 through 2009. He secured appointment with NABTEB as a Senior Test Development Officer on 1st April, 1996. He worked as subject specialist (Physics) and also served as a foundational member of Test Production Team (TPT) at the Board’s National Headquarters. Before joining the services of the Board, Ugwoke was employed as Education Officer (Physics) by the Governing Board of University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School in 1991 where he taught Physics. He began his career as Education Officer (Physics) with the Federal Ministry of Education in 1989 while he served in Imo State under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme in 1988.

He is happily married and computer literate, a team player and a mentor.  He has good numerical and organizational skills and likes to use statistics to analyze events. He has obtained numerous awards from within and outside the Board and is a member of Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria, M(STAN), and a Member of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria, M(TRCN).

 

Dr. Nnasia Ndarake Asanga

Dr. Nnasia Ndarake Asanga, FCA, ACTI was born on 15th October, 1968 in Edem Urua, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He assumed duty with the Board on 4th October, 1993 as Budget & Finance Officer II. Hitherto, he had worked in firms of Chartered Accountants as audit trainee and in Tertiary Institutions as lecturer assistant.

Dr. Asanga has served in various Committees of the Board and has received many commendations and awards from the Governing Board, Management, External Auditors etc.

A thorough-bred, resourceful and self-motivated personality, Dr. Asanga is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria as well as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He holds Doctorate Degree in Agricultural Economics, Master of Science Degree in Banking & Finance and Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. In addition, he is very proficient in Computer and Information Communications Technology.

Dr. Asanga is courteous with friendly disposition, proactive with collaborative attitude, a problem solver, hardworking, desirous of knowledge and improvement in daily undertakings. More so, he is physically and emotionally stable.

He is happily married with lovely and promising children.

He likes among others, music, cooking, reading, helping others, sharing knowledge.

 

DEACONESS ONYEGECHA NWAWUEZE OFURUM

Deaconess Onyegecha N. Ofurum is from Owerri in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State. She attended the renowned Christ Anglican Church Primary School, Owerri before proceeding to Owerri Girls’ Secondary School where she obtained Division One Grade in the West African School Certificate Examination in 1978. She attended Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State where she obtained Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in Chemistry/Physics in 1982; University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she bagged a Bachelor of Science in Education Chemistry and Master Degree (M.Ed.) in Science Education in 1986 and 1989 respectively. She proceeded to London South Bank University, United Kingdom where she obtained Master of Science (M.Sc) in Education for Sustainability in 2017.

Deaconess Ofurum started her working career in 1990 as a professional Teacher before joining the services of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) in 1995 as a Senior Test Administration Officer. Due to dint of hardwork, commitment to duty, integrity and professionalism she rose through the rank and promoted to the rank of Chief Examinations Officer and appointed Zonal Coordinator, South-East Zonal Office, Owerri, Imo State. She later earned promotion to the rank of Assistant Director where she served in various capacities in different Departments of the Board such as Examinations Administration Department, Examination Development Department, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department, and Registrar’s Office. She was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director, Special Duties where she served as Head, Production Unit. In all these special duties assignments, she distinguished herself as a Primus inter pares (a first among equals).

She was elevated to the position of a substantive Director and appointed as Director, Special Duties (DSD) effective from 1st of January, 2019.

She has attended seminars, workshops and conferences on assessment and certification within and outside Nigeria. She is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, member of Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN), and Teachers’ Registration Council (TRCN).

As a committed servant in the Lord’s Vineyard, Deaconess Ofurum has some Christian publications to her credit. Her hobbies include reading, writing, counseling and community service.

 

Mrs. Ruth Gyeyok Popoola

Ruth Gyeyok Popoola (Mrs.) was born in Nok village of Jaba Local government area of Kaduna state to the Family of Reverend and Mrs Domi Bako Nok, on 20th November 1964.

She is currently the Director and Zonal Coordinator, North Central Zone.

Mrs Popoola obtained her first degree at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where she was awarded Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry education BSc. Chemistry (Ed) in 1987.

She attended college of advanced study where she obtained her ‘A’ Level certificate (IJMB) in 1984. Mrs Popoola had her secondary education at the Government Girls Secondary School Zonkwa, She finished in 1982 where she obtained her WASSCE/GCE.

Her Primary School Education was at LEA Kurmin Gyada where she obtained her first leaving certificate in 1977.

Madam was promoted to the position of a Director, NABTEB Abuja office in 1st January 2019.

Mrs Popoola started her career as an Education Officer II at the Center for Educational Measurement (CEM) in 1992.

After the establishment of NABTEB in 1992, she was deployed as a Pioneer staff to join the service of the Board In 1995. She was promoted to the range of Examination officer I and later to senior officer. In the year 2000 she was promoted to the position of Principal Test Administration Officer. Madam became Chief Test Administration officer in 2006.

On the recommendation of her head office department, in 1992, she was promoted and awarded Best Staff of the year, she received the same award in 2007.

Amongst other awards received by Mrs R.G Popoola are;

  • Star Award by FCT College of Education, School of Vocational and technical Education in recognition of her contribution to the growth of technical education in 2011
  • Honour Award by Association of Proprietors of Technical and Vocational School Proprietor Abuja in 2012
  • Good Leadership Award by Association of Proprietors of Technical and Vocational Schools in Nigeria in recognition of her contribution to the growth of NABTEB in 2017
  • Award of Excellence by Proprietors of Technical and Vocational Schools in Nigeria in recognition of her positive contribution to the progress and development of Vocational and Technical Education and Training in Nigeria 2019.

Mrs Popoola R.G is a registered Teacher with the Teacher Registration Council Of Nigeria (TRCN). She is also a member of the Science Teacher Association of Nigeria (STAN).

Mrs Ruth Gyeyok Popoola is happily married to her beloved husband Engr. J.O Popoola and is blessed with many Children.

Mr. ALADE SIMON OLAGBEMIGA joined the services of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on the 27th of April, 1995 and was confirmed as a Senior Test Development Officer on the 27th of April 1997. His highest academic qualification is Master Degree in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation, March 1993 University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

Alade S.O has served meritoriously as officer, Assistant Director and Deputy Director in many of the Departments of the Board.

These include:

  • Examination (Test) Development Department, April 1995 – November 2006;
  • Research, Quality Assurance Department, November 2006 – March 2011;
  • Examinations Administration Department, March 2011 – August 2011; September, 2014 – March 2015
  • Registrar’s Office, South West Zonal Office (Zonal Coordinator) August, 2011 – August 2014;
  • ICT Department as Deputy Director, March 2015 – April 9th 2015;
  • Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement (RCSI) Department as Deputy Director RCSI, April 2015 – 8th June 2017;
  • ICT Department (Ag. HOD), 9th June 2017 to 4th March 2020.
  • RCSI Department (HOD) March 5th 2020 to date.

Since his assumption of duty as an officer in NABTEB, Mr. Alade has been among the few who is totally committed to the overall success of the Board. He is very hardworking, humble, time conscious, resourceful, reliable, dependable and God-fearing. He is open to suggestions and utilizes delegated authority judiciously whenever the opportunity is given. He gets along with other staff and very sound in interpersonal relationship. On the whole, he has low tolerance for staff who do not take their duties seriously. Since his assumption of duty as the Deputy Director in charge of RCSI Department his watchword to the staff has been punctuality and integrity. He is married with children.

 

Mr. Adeyemo Adeniran Amos

Mr Adeyemo Adeniran Amos is currently the Ag. Head of Information and Communications Technology Department of National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

He was born on October 1, 1962 into the family of Prince Thomas Adedokun Adeyemo and Princess (chief) Rachael Mogbonjubola Oyedoyin Adeyemo in the ancient town of Ipapo in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He attended Irepo Grammar School, Igboho, Oyo state, from 1972 to 1977 and Egbado Teachers college Ilaro, Ogun State from November 1979 to 1980. He also attended the Polytechnic Ibadan and University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-ife where he obtained a National Diploma in Statistics (1983) and Bachelor of Science in Demography and Statistics (1987) respectively. His drive for administration, planning and educational pedagogy led him to undergo further studies at the University of Benin, Benin city where he bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2003 and Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 2004. In 2011, he attended specialized trainings which earned him Professional Certificates in Research Methodology awarded by the Nigeria Institute for Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan and Administrative staff college of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo, Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria. This was crowned by a certificate in computer (Microsoft Office) obtained from NIIT in 2012.

Adeyemo joined the services of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), Benin City on the 1st day of November, 1993 as a Research officer I in the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics which was renamed Monitoring Research and Statistics before it later metamorphosed into Research and Quality Assurance Department. His consistent dedication to duty earned him promotion progressively to the rank of Assistant Director in 2009 and Deputy Director in January 2013. He was appointed as Ag. HOD of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement (RCSI) Department, the position he held from 25th December, 2019 to 21st February, 2020 before his redeployment to ICT Department.

Adeyemo Adeniran Amos has served in various capacities as Head of Units and Divisions in the Board (NABTEB) among of which are:

  • Resarch and Statistics Unit of Monitoring Research and Statistics Department (1996-2001);
  • Research and Information Management Division of Monitoring Research and Statistics Department (2002-2004);
  • Pre-Examination Division of Examinations Administration Department (August 2007 – July 2008) and (August 2015 – February 2017);
  • Examinations Management Division of Examinations Administration Department (July 2008 – Dec.2009)
  • Computer services Division of Information and Communications Technology Department (December 2009 – April 2011);
  • Research, Product and Services Development (RPSD) Division of Research and Quality Assurance Department (April 2011 – Dec 2011) and (February 2017 – December 2019)

 

In addition to the above, he has served in the Boards Field Offices as:

  • Zonal coordinator, Osogbo, covering Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States (18th May, 2004 – 10th August 2007);
  • Ogun State Coordinator (Dec.2011 – April 2014);
  • Head of Lagos Liaison Office (April 2014 – August 2015).

When, he was in Osogbo as the NABTEB Zonal Coordinator, he served as a member and Ex-officio of the Forum of Heads of Federal Government Establishments, Osun State Council (2004 – 2007). He was also a pioneer member of the Osun State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (OSBTVE) from 2004 to 2006. He displayed high level of commitment to duty as a Board member and contributed immensely to the preparation of the framework for the Board’s operations.

Apart from his immense contribution as a chairman and member of several management committees of the Board, Adeyemo has participated actively in several workshops, seminars and conferences as resource person and Seminar Coordinator. He has many academic publications to his credit.

He is a member of the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (MIICA), member, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (MTRCN) and a fellow of Corporate Administration Institute (FCAI). He has also won several awards which include:

  • Award of Professional Fellowship for Excellence in Public Administration of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (12th 2005);
  • Nigeria Today Media Merit Award as Coordinator-Per-Excellence (24th June, 2006);
  • Nigeria Selfless Service Gold Award (NISSGA) by our Majesty Global Publications, Abuja (2nd May, 2015);
  • Child’s Dream Award of Excellent Performance in recognition of contribution to the less privileged in the Society and to Community Development. (30th June, 2015).

 

Adeyemo Adeniran Amos is a seasoned, dynamic and resourceful educationist, statistician and administrator whose passion for career fulfillment is characterized with diligence and unshakeable dedication to duty. He is a man of great resource with resolute adherence to “integrity” as his watchword.

He is happily married to his virtuous wife, Mrs Fatima Moromoke Adeyemo with loving Children. His Hobbies include Reading, writing, travelling, planning, listening to music and making friends

 

MR. GABRIEL ANTKIL YALLAMU

The Acting HOD, Deputy Director General Services Department, Mr. Gabriel Antakil  Yallamu was born on the 2nd October, 1960 at Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State. He holds a MSC. Degree in Rural Development at Modibo  Adama University of Technology Yola Adamawa State and a licensed Teacher by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)

The officer started his working career in 1980 with Michika Local Govrnment Authority, later moved to Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Yola. He started as a Master Grade II Officer GL 07/2 and rose to Chief Education Officer on GL 10/2 after sixteen (16) years of meritorious service with Adamawa State Ministry of Education before joining the NABTEB in 1996 as Test Administration Officer I.

He was posted to Yola as the first Zonal Officer in-charge of Adamawa,Borno, Taraba, and Yobe States. In 2009, State Offices were established in all the States of the Federation; Where North East Zone was made up of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe and Taraba States with State Officers in Charge of each State. However, Gabriel Antakil  Yallamu was made to be the North East Zonal Coordinator for North East Zone.

Gabriel Antakil Yallamu is happily married with children.

Gabriel Antakil Yallamu was born to the family of late Mr and Mrs Yallamu on 2nd October, 1960 in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

He attended Local Education Authority Primary School, Limankara, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State (1969 –1975), Government Teachers College Mubi  (1975 – 1980) for his Teachers Grade 11 Certificate, College of Education Jalingo (1983 – 1985) Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto (1988 – 1991) for his Bachelor of Science degree in Education/Geography,

Federal University of Technology, Yola (2002 – 2004), for his Post Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning,  Federal University of Technology, Yola (2007-2015) for Masters of Science, in Rural Development.

Upon X- raying his unquantifiable contributions to the growth and popularization of NABTEB as an esteemed examination body and its consequent acceptability within the grass-root populace, especially in the North East Zone where he pioneered as a Zonal Coordinator and his numerous land mark achievement in the discharge of his schedule within the Zone and State levels.

He was promoted to Deputy Director on 1st January, 2015.

On 9th March 2020, He was redeployed to the headquarters as Acting Head of Department, General Services Department.

Mr. John Mackeans Oyana was born on 7th June, 1964 at Asaba, Delta State, his state of origin. After his early education in Asaba, he had tertiary academic sojourns in the College of Education, Warri where he obtained NCE in 1985, and the Universities of Calabar and Benin City and obtained B.A.(Hons) in 1989 and MPA in 2003 respectively. He is a professional Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM ).

Mr. Oyana joined the services of the Board (NABTEB) in 1992 as a Personnel Officer II and one of the pioneer staff. His work experience spans from 1992 to date in Administration Department. By dints of satisfactory performance, he earned commendation of the Interim Governing Board in 1993 for exemplary service and promotions, progressively, to the various ranks/positions in Administration Department from 1996 up to Deputy Director, General Administration in January, 2015.

He has served in various high profile Management Committees.

He was appointed the Acting Head of Administration Department in 2019.

He is happily married with children.
